I am Sir Timothy William O'brien from Brooklyn New York, I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Syracuse, New York, (1979). I also possesses two Masters’ degrees in Finance and Banking, and in Economics.
I am best known for my unparalleled dedication to promoting quality education and health services for the poor. Even before my first involvement in politics as a city Mayor in 1995, I have consistently championed various advocacies that advance the welfare of the underprivileged. Since 1982, I have helped sustain Day Care Centers and supported countless feeding programs and medical missions for my poverty-stricken townsmen.
As a leader in action, I have successfully chaired numerous projects that raised awareness of different issues concerning the city. One of the biggest events I handled was the Youth Program in 2007 until 2010, during which I was the vice chairman. With the goal of boosting the city’s tourism and strengthening the industry, the annual youth program was soon considered as a world-class cultural party in New York.
My firm belief in good governance has also earned me the trust of many of my constituents. My innovation in governance that prompted greater public openness, transparency and accountability has brought Brooklyn City’s council closer to the people.
As for my other projects, I have shown my heart for the youth with the programs I pioneered for the young generation. MY anti-drug campaign called Youth off Drug has made sure that no youth suffers from drug addiction. My solid fight against the use of illegal drugs eventually won me the Most Outstanding Anti-Drug Program Implementer Award in the country in 2011. I have likewise been recognized for my steady efforts in enhancing educational activities such as science fairs and the Children’s Congress. In addition, my programs have improved the quality of schools and the lives of children.
Being a public servant by heart, my philanthropic deeds usually don’t go unnoticed. I have been identified as the person behind the Goodwill Link, which assembled the largest gathering of donors from the America-Chinese Chamber of Commerce for greater public service and growth. I also serve as a role model for the business community, having been tagged as the top taxpayer for family-led business ventures when I was still the president of the CSI Group of Companies. I have likewise been given the Most Successful man in Brooklyn title after demonstrating my prowess in business and finance.
Today, I focus on leading my city. I aim to build a better neighborhood with a people who value and are proud of their being from Brooklyn.
